We’ve been checking the long-term weather forecasts trying to get ahead of any nasty weather forecasts, and this weekend, yes, the first weekend of 2022, would you think there is snow in the forecast? It’s true.

It depends on which forecast center you look at because they vary slightly, but from Saturday night to Sunday morning we have about a 35% chance of snow showers here in Texarkana.

Then on Sunday night, it’ll drop below freezing, so brace yourself, it would look like that old-time winter was delayed a bit, but it sure is on its way.

Forecast this week:

Monday: Cloudy skies with little chance of rain, highs around 77. Winds from the SSW at 10-15 mph.

Monday night: Cloudy with little chance of rain, overnight low 68. Winds from the south at 10 – 15 mph.

Tuesday: Cloudy with showers or thunderstorms possible, highs around 77. Winds from the SSW at 10 – 20 mph.

Tuesday night: Increasing clouds overnight with 50% chance of rain, low around 62. Winds from the SSW at 5 – 10 mph.

Wednesday: A colder front will blow bringing cloudy skies, 80% chance of rain and a maximum of around 70, rain could also come with strong, gusty winds.

Wednesday night: Some clouds around, no mention of rain, and the winds barely calm there. Overnight low around 51.

Thursday: A mixture of sun and clouds Thursday with highs around 71, winds from the SW at 5 – 10 mph.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy with an overnight low of approximately 56, winds will be light and variable.

New Year Eve

Friday: Cloudy with 40% chance of scattered showers, high near 73. Winds from the SSW at 5 – 10 mph.

Friday night: Cloudy with 70% chance of thunderstorms, overnight low 67. Winds from the SSW at 10 – 20 mph.

New Year’s Day

Saturday: Cloudy with 60% chance of showers, it is possible that it rains a lot. Partly cloudy in the afternoon when a cold front blows and winds shift to SW at 10 – 20 mph. The high for Saturday should be around 71 and then drop when that cold front hits.

Saturday night: Increasing clouds overnight with rain as well, about a 60% chance of rain and the temperature dropping dramatically to a low of 33. Winds will be out of the NW at 10-15 mph.

Sunday: Cloudy with a 40% chance of snow, Partly cloudy in the afternoon with a high near 41. Winds from the NW at 10 – 20 mph.

Sunday night: Clear and cold sky, low night 27. The winds will be light and variable.
