Police are calling for help as they search for the person or persons responsible for stabbing a woman and a teenager on New Year’s Day.
On New Years Eve around 4:45 p.m., officers from the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department were dispatched to Virginia Avenue for a riot report.
While officers were investigating the scene, Poughkeepsie City Police notified dispatch that a stabbing victim had been located at the Arlington Fire Department.
The woman suffered two stab wounds to the side and reported that they occurred during the Virginia Avenue incident, police say.
She was transferred to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital for treatment.
Detectives went to the hospital to interview the victim, and while there, a second stabbed victim was transported to the hospital via Mobile Life, authorities said.
The second victim, a 15-year-old boy, was treated for a stab wound to the buttocks. Both victims are expected to recover.
As of this writing, the police have no idea who is responsible for stabbing the woman or the teenager.
“The investigation is ongoing. If you have information about this incident, please call the confidential TIP LINE at (845) 451-7577,” the City of Poughkeepsie PBA wrote on Facebook.
