The groundbreaking ceremony and organizing meeting for Pittsfield city government officials was held on the morning of Monday, January 3, at the Boland Theater at Berkshire Community College.
The program began with a performance by the Eagles Band, followed by an invocation by the Rev. Peter Gregory.
After receiving the oath of office, City Clerk Michele Benjamin administered the oath of office to School Committee members: Mark Brazeau, William J. Cameron, Daniel C. Elias, Sara L. Hathaway, Alison McGee, and Vicky M. Smith .
Benjamin then administered the oath of office to councilors at large: Karen Kalinowsky; Peter M. Marchetti, Earl G. Persip, III, and Peter T. White; and to ward counselors, Kenneth G. Warren, Ward 1; Charles I. Kronick, Hall 2; Kevin J. Sherman, Hall 3; James B. Conant, District 4; Patrick Kavey, Hall 5; Dina G. Lampiasi, District 6; and Anthony V. Maffuccio, District 7.
Marchetti was elected to serve as council president and White as vice president. Following the City Council procedures update, Mayor Tyer delivered the inaugural and state of the city address.
