Dangerous Cold Tonight + Wind Chill Warning

The National Weather Service has extended its wind chill advisory to parts of central Minnesota to include Kandiyohi, Stearns and Todd counties (and more) through noon Friday, where icy winds as low as -45 are expected.

Avoid outdoor activities if possible. When you are outdoors, be sure to wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

A wind chill advisory is in effect for the rest of central Minnesota through noon Friday, including Benton, Meeker, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Sherburne, and Wright counties (including the Twin Cities metropolitan area), where the wind blows. up to -35 are expected.

The temperatures above are the predicted air temperature readings. The chills of the wind will be much lower than that. Dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite to exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

Tie a knot at the end of the rope and hold on as tightly as you can. This extremely cold weather is heading for a nice break on Saturday, when high temperatures in the area will ‘skyrocket’ to around 30 (top). It will feel almost tropical, but don’t get too excited. We will dive well below Saturday night through Tuesday morning, followed by another well-deserved warm-up.
