Two El Paso Eateries Among Yelp’s 2022 Top Restaurants in US

Yelp says that two of the 100 best restaurants in the entire United States are here in El Paso. Believe it or not, neither is among the plethora of great Mexican food restaurants our city has to offer.

To determine the ninth annual list of the 100 Best U.S. Restaurants, Yelp reached out to its national community of insiders to find out their favorite places to dine, “then we ranked each one by the total number of submissions, ratings, reviews, and geographic representation, among other factors.”

So who in El Paso most impressed Yelp’s foodie brigade?

Nomi – 6127 N. Mesa

Nomi, which bills itself as the place “where border town meets Texan-Japanese fusion cuisine,” ranked 57th on the list.

This strip mall restaurant may have an unassuming exterior, but it serves up some of the tastiest Asian fusion cuisine in Texas in moody interiors that meld East meets West.

Yelp recommends Brisket Sliders Bao with Apricot BBQ Sauce, Phuket Nachos with Thai Basil and Shrimp, Ramen, Dumplings, or a Crispy Pork Belly dish.

The Kitchen at 150 Sunset – 150 E. Sunset

Known and loved for its brunch, The Kitchen at 150 Sunset, located on Doniphan across from The Substation, home to the popular Greeting from El Paso mural, was rated the 63rd best in the US.

Tucked away inside a plant nursery and event venue, this inviting brunch destination is an oasis in the Texas desert. Diners eat creative omelettes, pancakes and sandwiches surrounded by lush greenery and relaxing water features.

Yelp recommends fan favorites like Avocado Toast and Challah French Toast. I am a big fan of the Signature Meatloaf and Cajun Salmon lunch entrees.
