Corrinne’s Place in New Jersey Wins Best Soul Food Award

According to nj.com, this south Jersey Restaraunt won a prestigious award, the first a New Jersey eatery has earned in more than a decade. The award is the James Beard America’s Classic Award.

What’s the James Beard America’s Classic Award?

This is an amazing award given to locally-owned restaurants that have that delicious appeal and are loved for their quality of food and also the character of their community, according to the James Beard Foundation.

The James Beard Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to celebrate, support, and elevate the people behind America’s food culture and champion a standard of good food anchored in talent, equity, and sustainability, according to jamesbeard.org.

Congratulations to Corinne’s Place in Camden, NJ, award winner of Soul Food.

For more than 30 years Corrine’s Place has been serving up some good soul food. Corinne’s Place is known for its ribs, fried fish, pork chops, turkey wings, fried chicken, mac & cheese, and more.

Thanks to delish.com, the expression of “soul food” originated in the mid-’60s. Soul was a common word used to describe African American culture. Soul food is down-home cooking. Its roots and many, many generations come from the rural south.

Corrinne’s Place in Camden is only the fifth restaurant in New Jersey to ever earn this honor. Other award winners in New Jersey were Doris & Ed’s in Highlands in 1998, White House Sub Shop in Atlantic City in 2000, Ocean County’s Mustache Bill’s Diner in Barnegat Light in 2009.
