If you are planning a trip in the near future, the weather might not be the only thing you want to keep in mind. The Bismarck Airport’s Facebook page posted an update on the Federal mask requirement for air travelers.
Another Extension
The airport announced there will be an additional 15 days to the mask requirement, now putting it to end after May 3rd, 2022. According to the TSA, (Transportation Security Administration) this was recommended by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and applies to all public transportation, along with transportation hubs.
This includes, but is not limited to buses, planes, trains, ferries, and subways.
CDC Concerns On Spread Of COVID-19 Variants
According to the TSA website, this decision from the CDC was made as a result of the recent spread of the OMICRON COVID-19 variant and BA.2 subvariant. The CDC continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19 and if cases continue to rise, the mask requirement may even be extended after May 3rd.
Masks requirements have been in effect since February of 2021.
The TSA’s press statement explains that the CDC will be considering the number of current COVID cases, hospitalizations, deaths, and the healthcare system’s capacity before lifting the requirement.
Flight Cancellations
Many flights scheduled to come and go from the Bismarck Airport have been canceled due to the recent weather event. Airport representatives are encouraging travelers to look at their flight status before coming to the airport. You can find this statement on the airport’s Facebook page.
