Living in Belsize Park Matthew Williamson north London

I

I live in a large Victorian apartment on the ground floor of a stucco-fronted white house in Belsize Park. I am lucky to also have a private back garden.

I love my neighborhood because it is quite small and manageable, almost with a village feel.

Central London is quick and easy to get to and there are great open spaces like Hampstead Heath, Primrose Hill and Regent’s Park all within walking distance.

I have always lived in North London. At 20 he was in Primrose Hill, at 30 in Hampstead and now in Belsize Park.

I guess I like to change houses from time to time, but I love this part of London. I have lived here for 10 years.

Better eat and drink

I often go to Lemonia on Primrose Hill for a casual Greek dinner. It is a local institution, I love the food and the staff is great. It’s just a short walk from my house.

There is also a good Italian restaurant in the town of Belsize called Calici.

For sandwiches, breakfasts and lunches there are a couple of places like Roni’s Bakery and Belsize Organic.

In England’s Lane, I usually eat and stock up on kitchen cupboard staples at Black Truffle.

My three local watering holes are The Washington, The Haverstock Tavern, and Steele’s pub.

Where i exercise

I try to give myself a weekly massage at the Body Matters clinic as a gift.

For a cultural solution

Daunt Books on Haverstock Hill is a regular place. Plus, a walk to Hampstead offers wonderful buildings steeped in history. You can get lost in some of the hidden streets that line Heath.

The Everyman Cinema is a favorite and has just been renovated.

Communicate with nature

Just a short walk away, you will find Primrose Hill Park and then Regent’s Park. I often walk this route to central London as it takes me about half an hour.

Grocery shopping

I buy all my groceries at Crescent Fruiterers on Belsize Lane and Pomona on Haverstock Hill.

Move

I walk if I can and then take taxis or the subway if I go further.

Dream street

Belsize Park Gardens is impressive with its large symmetrical houses on a tree-lined street. Some of the nearby streets also have a lovely quiet charm.

It is family oriented with lots of dogs and babies, which suits me well because I have both.
