Bucks County Weekend Happenings: April 8-10

In preparation for warmer days, there are a couple of ways you can do your part by participating in a cleanup, either along the Delaware Canal or the Croydon Woods Natural Preserve. The Earth Day Festival is also this weekend in New Hope, featuring environmentally friendly vendors and information on the green industry and environmental organizations in our area. The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society public gardens are now open for the season! Earth Day Festival

When: April 9, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Where: 2877 Creamery Road, New Hope, PA

Celebrate the planet and share in the many programs and activities at the Earth Day Festival in New Hope. View and purchase goods from environmentally friendly vendors and learn more about green industry and environmental organizations in our area. Admission is free, but donations to the Bucks Audubon Society are appreciated and benefits the high-quality environmental education programming throughout the year. The festival will take place outdoors, rain or shine.

Channel Clean Up Day 2022

When: April 9, 9 a.m.
Where: 145 South Main Street, New Hope, PA

The Friends of the Delaware Canal Clean-Up Day is taking place this Saturday. The entire 58.9 mile length of the canal will get its annual spring cleaning through the efforts of 32 area coordinators, canal tenders and hundreds of volunteers. To volunteer, review the work area list and choose where you’d like to be located. Fill out the online form at the FODC website.

Croydon Woods Cleanup

When: April 9
Where: Croydon Woods Nature Preserve, 1900 Summit Ave, Croydon, PA

Help improve the habitat at Croydon Woods Nature Preserve by freeing the native trees from vines and picking up trash. The preserve is a publicly accessible green space and is one of the last remaining coastal plain forests in the state of Pennsylvania. Your help is vital to its ongoing protection and preservation. Enjoy the beautiful forest while helping to preserve it. The meeting location is at the Croydon Woods Nature Preserve. Meet at the parking lot at the Lower Bucks County Athletic Association/Bristol Township National Little League Field.

Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Public Gardens

When: Open now for the season
Where: Locations throughout Philadelphia

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has announced the opening of 20 public gardens and landscapes across the Philadelphia region, which feature a variety of new renovations and refurbishments this spring, including the addition of 70,000 rainbow-colored bulbs in Philadelphia’s iconic Logan Square. Visitors are encouraged to pay a visit to these landmarks and take in the beauty. Here is where to find them:

  • PHS Pop Up Gardens – South Street and Manayunk, Philadelphia

Abington Art Center Spring Craft Fair

When: April 9, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Where: 515 Meetinghouse Road, Jenkintown, PA

Spring is in the air at the Abington Art Center. On Saturday from 10 am – 4 pm, there will be fun, food and homemade items from local artists. The event is free and open to the public. Bring a friend!

Sing Out Louise: A Tribute to Chicago

When: April 9, 7 pm – 8:15 pm & 9 pm – 10:15 pm
Where: The Painted Mug Café, 1527 Jackson Street, Philadelphia, PA

The Hum’n’Bards and The Painted Mug Café present a tribute to the beloved musical Chicago. Local performers will pay homage to the iconic performances from the movie, the 97′ revival and the original production. The Painted Mug is a new performance space and café in South Philadelphia dedicated to empowering the local LBGTQIA+ community. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $30 for VIPs. Recommended age is 18+.

Stangl Factory Farmers Market

When: Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Where: Stangl Factory, 50 Stangl Road, Flemington, NJ

Every Saturday, enjoy the indoor Stangl Factory Farmers Market that brings the freshest local, seasonal foods. There will be organic produce, grass-fed meats, pastured eggs, handmade cheeses, freshly baked bread, prepared foods like soups and salads made with local, organic ingredients and much more. Don’t miss the market artisans – talented local crafters with wonderful, unique offerings. It’s free to attend.


mulch madness

When: April 12, 9 am – 12 pm and/or 1 pm – 4 pm
Where: Aldie Mansion, 85 Old Dublin Pike, Doylestown, PA

On April 12th and 13th, participate in the Mulch Madness event at the Aldie Mansion and help to spread over 50 yards of mulch throughout Aldie’s beautiful gardens. Mulching the gardens helps to prepare for the spring and summer ahead and helps the garden to look their best. Time slots are available from 9 am – 12 pm and/or 1 pm – 4 pm. Touch a Truck

When: Thursday, April 14, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Where: Veteran’s Park, 234 Durham Road, Newtown, PA

Stop by and see up close the big, hardworking trucks you see driving around town. Newtown Township Public Works, Leck Waste Services, SEPTA, Newtown Ambulance, Newtown Township Police, Newtown Fire Station 55, the United States Postal Service and more will be in attendance. This educational outdoor event is an opportunity to explore a variety of trucks and vehicles. Come learn how these vehicles work and operate. Rain date is scheduled on Monday, April 18th. The event is free.

The Culinary Arts Institute at Montgomery County Community College Tour

When: Thursday, April 14, 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Where: The Culinary Arts Institute at Montgomery County Community College, 1400 Forty Foot Road, Landsdale, PA

Join faculty and staff at The Culinary Arts Institute at Montgomery County Community College for an in-person campus tour. The tour begins on Thursday from 4:30-5:30 pm. Prospective students will have the chance to tour and learn all there is to know about MontCo’s Culinary Arts Institute. RSVP at this link.
