Central Coast farmers markets: your guide to shopping supermarket-free

Welcome to the Central Coast Farmers Market Guide.

If you’ve never ventured out of the supermarket to buy your food on a regular basis, it can be quite a daunting transition at first, especially if you don’t know what the alternatives are. For the past two weeks, we’ve been discussing the myriad of benefits that come with buying most of your food in season from local growers, and this week we’re focusing on how to change your shopping habits.

If you’re reading this as a Central Coast resident, rest assured this transition could be easier than you think. You may not have even been aware of the fact that we are living on a dinner plate! Unbeknownst to many locals, we are surrounded by passionate small-scale farmers in the hinterland of the fertile coastline who are producing some of the best quality farm and animal products right on our doorstep.

Here are some of the options available to you as you begin to think outside the supermarket aisles.
