Dole Recall on Iceberg Lettuce in North Dakota

Dole has issued a voluntary recall of iceberg lettuce products in North Dakota.

If you bought any Dole iceberg lettuce (or foods containing Dole iceberg lettuce) on your most recent trip to the grocery store, you may he wants to take it to the store and get his money back. Why? Because Dole may have shipped a few batches of lettuce and other veggies that can make you seriously ill. The United States Food and Drug Administration has notified the public that many states have been affected by the recall of vegetables.

Some packages of iceberg lettuce and other Dole vegetables may be contaminated with Listeria.

Dole issued a recall of some items containing iceberg lettuce with possible Listeria that were distributed from facilities in Springfield, Ohio, and Soledad, California. According to the FDA website, the food being recalled is because the iceberg lettuce could be contaminated with Listeria. North Dakota reportedly obtained Dole iceberg lettuce from the Soledad, California facility.

Listeria can be a very dangerous disease.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, listeria is the infection that most commonly “affects pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.” People infected with Listeria can reportedly experience everything from flu-like symptoms, such as fever and muscle aches, to stillbirths and miscarriages.
