Bravos de FC Juarez will be looking to add two wins in a row on Saturday night when they take on Cruz Azul in Mexico City. FC Juarez is coming off a season opening win at home against Necaxa by a score of 2-1 last Friday night.
The Braves’ second game of the season will prove to be a tough test against one of the four biggest teams, historically speaking, in Mexican soccer. Cruz Azul is coming off a victory against Xolos de Tijuana last week. They defeated Xolos by a score of 2-0.
Once again, Cruz Azul seeks to become one of the main protagonists to aspire to the title at the end of this spring. They loaded this offseason with quality acquisitions with that sole intent. Meanwhile, the Braves are working on getting consistency in their performances to acquire as many points as possible.
Because of this, the good old school of thought that a point along the way in soccer is never bad may be the case with FC Juarez. I’m sure if they could sign a giveaway they would.
Returning to Borderland with at least one point in his back pocket could go a long way for the Braves at the end of the season. However, this does not mean that you will see an FC Juárez that will be looking for a draw from the start of the match.
Midfielder Matías “Caco” García spoke to the media earlier in the week about this Saturday’s game that will take place at the historic Estadio Azteca.
Garcia alluded to the good start both teams had this season, saying: “We are exactly aware of who we are up against. A tough team that got a win in the season opener, starting their season in the best way like we did. They’re going to try to play their game like we do.”
As for playing their first away game of the season, which is something they struggled with last year, Caco said: “We have to be a disciplined team that keeps most of the possession of the ball and waits for the moments. key to attack. Of course we have to. We have to improve on the results we get when we play away from home. We need to start a run early this season and get points however we need the most.”
“We are aware that we must continue to improve as a team and this weekend we face a great rival away from home, which means another opportunity to do so.” As for facing Cruz Azul and their new acquisitions, Garcia concluded by saying: “I’m more focused on my team, the things we need to do to improve, to correct the things we did in our last game. That’s the kind of thing I worried about not paying attention to our rival”.
Saturday night’s game will be televised nationally on both network and premium television. Fans can watch the Cruz Azul-FC Juárez game on Univision or TUDN. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 pm MST.
