Food Network Star Opening Restaurant in East Grand Forks

This one is for all you foodies!

If you regularly watch The Food Network you’re no doubt familiar with the effervescent personality of show host Molly Yeh. If not then take a quick peek as Molly whips up some sugared pork burns from her ella show Girl Meets Farm on The Food Networks Facebook Channel.

I’m not a devoted Food Channel viewer so I knew very little about Molly Yeh. So a visit to her Wikipedia page was in order. First off, Molly is an accomplished chamber musician and a graduate of the prestigious Julliard School. She broke into the food business through her blog and the publication of her first award-winning book, Molly on the Range: Recipes and Stories from An Unlikely Life on a Farm.

Why did this Julliard trained TV host decide to open a restaurant in East Grand Forks?

Simple really, she lives there.

In 2015, Molly married Nick Hagan, a fellow Julliard graduate and also a fifth-generation farmer nearby East Grand Forks, Minnesota. So there you go, this is n’t Wolfgang Puck slapping his name on a restaurant and going back to his ivory tower, this is a very successful Food Network personality who calls the area home. According to KVRR, it was the largest of East Grand Forks that made the announcement.

Mayor Steve Gander says Yeh and her husband, Nick Hagen, plan to open an eatery in the former Whitey’s and Sickie’s location.

Plans are in place to have the restaurant ready by the fall of this year…that is if Molly can pull herself away from her hosting duties for at least a little bit. She’s also currently the host of Food Network’s Spring Baking Championship.

We’ll look forward to paying her a visit in the fall.
