Former Bristol undertakers to reopen as organic food shop and café

Better Food will open its fourth store in Bristol, creating up to 20 new jobs.

It will open on Gloucester Road at the corner of Radnor Road, in the building formerly occupied by Co-op Funeralcare.

Like the other three Better Food stores, the new store will specialize in local organic produce and will also have a cafe or deli.

The remodel of the new store has already begun and it is expected to open in the fall.

Better Food’s other stores are located in St Werburghs, Clifton, and Wapping Wharf.

A company spokesperson said: “We are very excited to join the thriving community of independent businesses on Gloucester Road and bring our selection of organic, local and ethical food, health, pampering and household essentials to the community. .

“We look forward to complementing the fantastic range of products available in the area and strengthening what is already one of the best areas to shop in the UK.”

Better Food started in Bristol in 1992 when founder and owner Phil Haughton established an organic food delivery plan from his kitchen in St Werburghs.

The company has won multiple awards, including Best Independent Organic Retailer in the 2021 Soil Association BOOM Awards.
