The Freemasons at Wiswell – recently awarded the 5th best gastropub in the Estrella Damn Top 50 Gastropubs 2022 – has announced the launch of its ‘Slowly Walking into Spring’ menu to reflect the seasonal ingredients available as the weather starts to turn.
The menu will feature the likes of wild rabbit, organic salmon and oxtail cheek, infused with seasonal ingredients such as asparagus, mint and seasonal greens. This sits alongside The Freemasons’s signature truffle cheese hotdog and the lamb fat & rosemary brioche signature dishes.
The pub has also announced its annual ‘War of the Roses 2022 Battle of the Smiths’ on Thursday 5th May.
The BATTLE OF THE SMITHS will see two Steven Smiths go head-to-head in a gastropub cook off. The Freemasons’ Lancashire lad Chef Patron Steven Smith will take on the Yorkshire lad Head Chef Steve Smith of The Star at Harome: the ultimate battle of the Smiths and the two counties.
Guests will be treated to a six-course meal and will be armed with scorecards, detailing each course from both chefs – a starter, a main and a dessert. All six courses will be scored individually up until the end of service when either Lancashire or Yorkshire will walk away victorious!
Tickets are £80 per person, with an optional £40 per person to include the wine pairing. For a truly immersive experience, watching the chefs craft their gastronomic creations, guests can dine at the revolutionary Mr Smiths’ kitchen table or kitchen bench for no extra costs.
Steven Smith of The Freemasons was recently awarded #5 in the Estrella Damn Top 50 Gastropubs 2022. Steven and the hard-working team at The Freemasons are delighted to have climbed one space from last year’s 2021 Awards where they came 6th.
Steven Smith and The Freemasons have held a top 10 position in the Top 50 Gastropubs for over a decade. In addition, The Freemasons at Wiswell was the first pub to ever receive 7 out of 10 in the good food guide and has gained inclusion in The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants – the only pub to make the list!
