Maine Candy Shop Scrummy Afters Is For Sale

For nearly a decade, Scrummy Afters was the candy store of choice in central Maine. As of 2012, his little shop, located on Water Street in Hallowell, was filled with sweets. The unique store featured everything from the mundane (peanut butter cups) to the truly rare (candy from around the world).

Then in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, they made the decision to close their store on Water Street.

But that wasn’t the end of the Scrummy Afters story. In 2018, they had introduced a mobile candy store that they intended to use for fairs and festivals. Following the closure of their physical store in Hallowell, that’s exactly what they did. They continued to offer online ordering and also used the mobile store.

Now it looks like the business is for sale!

According to a post on his Facebook page, the entire business is for sale. Includes all assets, including the mobile store and a commercial kitchen.

The post says, in part:

Scrummy on Wheels (mobile unit), the commercial kitchen and all associated assets of the Scrummy Afters Candy Shoppe (including unique custom-designed furniture) are for sale now. This is a fully branded turnkey business that has a large and loyal customer base with the opportunity for even more growth.

Our family built this business almost 10 years ago. It has brought much joy and satisfaction to our community, but we are embarking on a new chapter. We pour our hearts into all things ‘Scrummys’, so we’d like to make sure it passes into capable loving hands.
