Man Charged Following Theft of Two Vehicles in Perth-Andover, N.B

A 19-year-old man, originally from Quebec, is behind bars after allegedly stealing two vehicles and crashing one of them in Perth-Andover.

Shortly before noon on Saturday, November 27, the Perth-Andover RCMP received a report of a break-in, entry and robbery on Terrace Street. Police received a second report of a stolen pickup truck from the area shortly thereafter, according to Cpl. James Gallant.

The van was found abandoned on Liberty Lane in Perth-Andover and police learned that the suspect had fled on foot. While police were responding to that incident, the suspect allegedly stole a van in the neighborhood. Moments later, police located the stolen SUV, which had been involved in a single-vehicle accident on Titus Drive, less than a kilometer away.

The RCMP says the suspect, Dylan Jerome, 19, of Gasgapegiag, Quebec, was arrested nearby and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Jerome appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court on Monday for pretrial detention and was charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, intentional burglary, possession of property obtained for a misdemeanor $ 5,000 and fails. to fulfill a commitment.

Dylan Jerome was taken into custody and is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday, December 1.
