National Popcorn Day isn’t the only day to enjoy a big bowl of this hot, buttered favorite. Nothing better than popcorn on movie night or any night in front of the TV. I eat it a lot because it is a low calorie snack and I have learned that it is high in fiber and whole grains.
Have you ever done it the old fashioned way?
I remember mom as a child putting oil in a large pot on the stove and shaking it after adding the popcorn. And what fun Jiffy Pop was as a kid.
Remember this commercial from the 70s
Popcorn has phenolic acids, a type of antioxidant, and foods that can reduce the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure in people. Well that’s what my doc tells me anyway, he also says it can be part of a healthy diet.
Also, we can’t go to a movie at Celebration Cinema in Lansing or Studio C in Okemos without a huge bucket, which is usually half empty by the time the next rides end for me.
