I wonder what’s going on at the old Boomhouse restaurant in that big space on Main Street in downtown Old Town?
Ask me no more.
Renovations are underway and in a couple of months that space will be the next Pepper’s Landing restaurant.
Interesting. There are Pepper’s Landing locations in Brunswick and also in Rochester, New Hampshire.
And the race to open the second and third locations in Maine has begun. Opening hours in downtown Old Town are in April. And then a Westbrook location in May.
If you’ve been to the Brunswick location, you know they are known for their seafood. Bring it. I can not wait. Back to its roots.
Ralph ‘Pepper’ Martin was born and raised in Old Town and one of the current co-owners, Morey Highbarger, is also from Old Town. And Highbarger is also Pepper’s grandson.
Pepper was a character, storyteller, and former Maine guide.
If you can’t pass the Pepper Martin story quiz, no problem. Here is the story of this colorful man.
If the menu at the Old Town location is the same as the menu at Pepper’s Landing in Brunswick, and why wouldn’t it be? – get ready for some lobster, clams, scallops, shrimp, oysters, haddock and much more.
And remember the location overlooks the Penobscot River and Milford Dam. I can’t wait to see what both of them look like and what the renovated interior of the restaurant will look like once they open.
Oh, and of course, let’s eat.
