Unbeweedable.
That had to be exactly what a master from the Midwest thought when he realized that the brownies he had baked had disappeared from the kitchen counter. There was no doubt a bit of panic as well. It turns out that concern was well founded.
It all happened last week in Tabor, South Dakota. Michael Koranda, 46, director of the Bon Homme County School District choir, went to Colorado the weekend before. He returned to South Dakota with some products that included marijuana. One of them was THC butter.
Koranda decided to make a batch of buttered brownies. He put in half a pound, according to KTIV. After cooking the brownies on Monday night, she went to bed.
On Tuesday, January 4, Koranda’s mother found the brownies on the kitchen counter. She must have thought, ‘What a great son. She made brownies for the card party at the senior center. UPS. Koranda’s mom, whose name was not released, grabbed those brownies and left. Bad idea. It definitely should have been a joint decision.
At approximately 8:00 pm that night, several calls went through the county dispatch center. They all had something in common … everyone who was not feeling well had played a card game earlier that day. Obviously, that wasn’t the only thing they had in common. One deputy who responded attributed his conditions to being under the influence of THC. This is probably the last shared meal at the senior center.
On the morning of January 5, the Bon Homme County Sheriff and an officer spoke with Koranda’s mother, who said she had no idea there was THC in the brownies.
A visit to Koranda at Tabor Elementary School confirmed the suspicions. He told the Sheriff and the Deputy the whole story. He later turned over the remaining half pound of THC butter to the authorities.
Koranda was charged with possession of a controlled substance and posted bail. His hearing date has been set for January 25.
