Sedalia Police Reports For February 25, 2022

Thursday afternoon, Officers responded to the 2400 block of East 10th Street for a child abuse report. On arrival, Officers made contact with the reporting party and the child. The child had significant bruising from being slapped while at a child care provider. The suspect, Chelsea M. Washington, 29, of Sedalia, was later located, arrested, and placed on a 24 hour hold. A request for the charges of Abuse or Neglect of a Child are being requested against Washington.


Sedalia Police responded to the 1200 block of South Sneed Avenue in reference to a disturbance Thursday afternoon. A mother and a juvenile daughter got into an argument. The daughter attempted to attack the mother, but was stopped by another family member. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The daughter was transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center to be evaluated.


Thursday evening, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and Oak Grove Lane for a motor vehicle accident. Both parties involved refused medical treatment. An accident report was completed. One of the drivers was arrested for Driving While Revoked as well as a Pettis County Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway While Suspended. Travis M. Freeman, 39, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail on the warrant, pending bond of $100 cash only. Freeman was placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of No Proof of Insurance and Driving While Revoked.


Officers were dispatched to the Bothwell Regional Health Center Emergency Room, 601 East 14th Street, Thursday night for a report of a dog bite that occurred in the 700 block of North Grand Avenue. The patient stated she was feeding her two dogs when the dogs began to fight. The patient intervened, resulting in minor injury sustained to the patient’s arm. The patient was treated and released.


Sedalia Police responded to the Break Time store, 808 East Broadway Boulevard, for a report of a domestic disturbance Thursday evening. When Officers arrived, a vehicle was leaving with the subjects involved. A traffic stop was conducted to check the well being of both subjects. After a computer check, the driver’s license status came back as revoked. Brian N. Wheeler, 45, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest. After further investigation, Wheeler was also charged with Driving While Intoxicated. Wheeler was taken to the Pettis County Jail for processing, pending charges of DWI and DWR. The passenger of the vehicle was released.


Early Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of West 16th Street and South Vermont Avenue in reference to a suspicious subject. Officers made contact with an individual who matched the description. During a consent search, Officers located a wooden pipe containing marijuana. The pipe was seized for destruction and the subject was released.


Sedalia Police responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard Thursday evening for a report of theft in progress. The suspect attempted to steal numerous items of merchandise as well as food items from the business. Gabrielle M. Bennett, 31, of Kansas City, was apprehended and $811.41 of property was recovered and returned to the business. Bennett was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was placed on a 24 hour hold pending court action on a felony Stealing charge.


Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of South Vermont Avenue in reference to a juvenile runaway Thursday evening. Officers spoke to the family, who reported the juvenile fled the house following an argument over a cell phone. The destination of the juvenile is unknown.


On the evening of February 17th, Sedalia Police conducted a warrant check in the 800 block of South Marshall Avenue. A wanted subject was located and arrested for three active warrants. One warrant was a Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility, Possession of Marijuana, Speeding, and Failure to Wear a Seat Belt. One warrant was a Probation Violation on two felony charges of Violation of an Order of Protection. Another warrant held charges of felony Trafficking in the 2nd Degree, felony Endangering the Welfare of a Child Involving Drugs, and felony Delivery of Marijuana. Ryan James Camero Tuttle, 36, of Sedalia, was held pending a total bond of $64,000 on those warrants. The next day, Tuttle was issued a warrant from Cooper County on charges of Kidnapping in the 1st Degree Facilitating a Felony While Inflicting Injury and felony Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree. Bond on that warrant totaled $75,000 cash or surety.


On the morning of February 16th, Detectives with the Crime Resolution Unit assisted the Drug Enforcement Administration with a warrant check in the 300 block of North Heard Avenue. The unnamed wanted subject was located and arrested by the DEA.
