The Results are in…the “Most Popular Kitchen Gadget of 2021″ in Massachusetts is…

The most popular kitchen appliance in Massachusetts certainly hasn’t been as hotly debated in the state as Brady or Belichick, but it’s an interesting debate among all kitchen cooks.

A survey by insurance and surety company Safety First collected Google Trends data from 2021 and assessed the popularity of kitchen appliances within each individual state. The kitchen appliances that topped the state charts are extensive. Everything from the fryer to the wine aerator made it to No. 1 in at least one state. The list is so extensive that the “Most Popular Device of 2021” was only the number one choice in three states. Nine devices tied for # 2, and only two states placed them at the top of their state’s list.

The “most popular kitchen gadget of 2021” here in Massachusetts is (drum roll) the toaster oven! A gadget that I personally use every day. The toaster oven was in that 9-way tie for second with Massachusetts and New Jersey paying homage to this multi-dimensional device according to Safety First data.

With the popularity of air fryers these days, I thought for sure that this hot air device would take the top spot. No. The # 1 “Most Popular Kitchen Gadget of 2021” according to Safety First data was the slow cooker. Dating back to the 1940s, this fill-it-up-and-drop-it kitchen appliance has been cooking tasty dishes and warming stomachs for decades. It was Dakoda of the South, West Virginia and Wyoming which was enough to place it at No. 1 as the most popular kitchen appliance of 2021 in the country.

The other kitchen appliances that tied for No. 2 along with Massachusetts’ choice of toaster were: the deep fryer, deep fryer, French press, juicer, peeler, backsplash, waffle maker, and believe it or not, the ice cube tray. of ice. based on Safety First data.

As for the other New England states, the sushi maker was # 1 in Connecticut, the peeler in Maine, the Wok in Vermont, the waffle maker in New Hampshire, and the roaster in Rhode Island.

The full list of devices by state is interesting and unusual, with items like the butter whisk, sandwich cutter, and strawberry husker all topping the list for at least one state. You can view the full results by clicking this link to this Safety First article.
