Time to Enter ‘Texarkana Area Veterans Council 22nd Annual Chili

This time of year, when temperatures drop, it’s time for some good old-fashioned chili. Mark your calendars for the Texarkana Area Veterans Council’s 22nd annual chili cook-off.

It will all take place at the Truman Arnold Center at Texarkana College on Friday, February 18, 2022, during “Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week”

If you make a good chili, give it a try and see how it goes with the others. There will be three categories: companies, civic groups and individuals. There will also be an “Audience’s Choice” award and a “Best Presentation” award, both of which will be voted on by the public.

If you love chili, you will be perfect to try all the chilies and see which ones win the big trophies.

Doors open for chili lovers from 11 am to 1 pm. Tickets are $8 and give you a sample of each chili plus a chance to win door prizes.

The money raised goes to the transport vehicle

Homemade Beef Chili with Cheese and Onions

The money raised will go towards the purchase of a new day van to transport local veterans to the VA Medical Center in Shreveport when needed. It will also be used to help local veterans and their families.
