Tuna Fish Comes in Flavors Now…Mind Blown!

One of the biggest New Year’s Resolutions each and every year is to ‘Lose Weight’ or ‘Get Healthy’. Some of you are feeling my pain in making at least one of these happen last February.

Getting healthy means eating healthy. A diet higher in protein, lower in calories, carbs, and sodium. Not an easy combination, but doable. Especially if you like prickly pear.

Tuna now comes in flavors. I’ll admit, I don’t really stop and browse the tuna aisle, but I guess I should. I just happened to be on the aisle with tuna and saw Starkist Tuna, which is the brand I always gravitate to, now has 15 different flavors. No joke, fifteen! I did some research because I really don’t want to taste 15 kinds of tuna to decide which is best. why not let someone else rank them for me?

I’ve never been a huge fan of tuna. We tie it to a lot growing up. Five kids; tuna is/was cheap: You do the math. At least mom tried to make it interesting. Pickles and Mayo anyone? Oh what we would have done with 15 flavors! Starkist was my first experience with tuna, and who could forget those fun commercials? Starkists aren’t looking for tuna with good taste, they are looking for tuna that tastes good!

If you are trying to stick to your New Year’s Resolutions, you really can’t go wrong with tuna. I think I’ve decided to try at least two different flavors of tuna. The Bacon Ranch, and the Lemon Pepper. At 70-80 calories for a whole pouch and 15-20 grams of protein, it’s the perfect choice to stay the resolution course, at least until March!
